Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black & Decker AAW100 8-Inch Auto Wrench Adjusting Wrench

Customer Review: Useless
Summary: 1 Stars

Save your money and buy a standard crescent wrench. This one has several fatal flaws:

- Does not close down tight enough on the nut or bolt, and so ends up stripping it

- Too big to get into tight spaces

- Handle too big to grasp properly in many situations

In short, it is a gimmick, not a good tool.

Customer Review: Did not meet expectations at all
Summary: 1 Stars

I can tell you that this tool, at least for me, did not meet expectations at all. Why? Because it only works in one orientation for me, and its upside down only. It jams constantly and you end up fighting the tool instead of benefitting from it. Perhaps I got a bad one ... because its hard to image that folks would be rating this well, if it worked anything like mine. For me, it was just another example of why I no longer buy anything Black and Decker ... because its C R A P. Read my other reviews, I don't slam a product unless its truly deserving. For me, this product never worked will ... even from day one.

Customer Review: Does not work.
Summary: 1 Stars

A good idea not executed. I guess the fake positive reviews will over-ride the real reviews, but that is the way of the world. Here is now to make this work. Get a real wrench out and unloosen the nut. Once the nut is loose enough to where you can finish the job with your fingers, pull out this bad boy. At this point there is a 25% chance it will tighten enough to allow you to finish the job. So what is the point? If you can answer this then go ahead and make this purchase.

Customer Review: Dumb Concept
Summary: 1 Stars

My mother got me one of these as a christmas gift.

It's gotta be the dumbest idea to come along in a while. A battery powered wrench? The last thing I want to have to worry about with a hand tool is a dead battery. Hand tools need to be reliable, and you don't want to have to go searching for a battery when it dies. Yes you can use it as a manual adjustable wrench, and that's what you'll end up doing when the battery dies and you are sick of replacing it. So why not just go buy a good adjustable in the first place.

The other thing is that the open/close switches get bumped and triggered a lot in close quarters. Annoying.

And the world doesn't need yet another battery powered gadget so we can generate more batteries for the landfills.

Dumb.

Maybe B&D should focus on just making decent power tools instead of the glorified toys they sell, stop with the geewhiz mutants like this.

Customer Review: Garbage. Not even usable as a wrench.
Summary: 1 Stars

This is a somewhat good idea gone bad. The electrical part never worked properly, and it is very awkward to even use it as an adjustable wrench. If you'll pay the shipping, I'll give you mine free.
