Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black & Decker D2030 Auto-Off Digital Advantage IronCustomer Review: Awesome Iron ***A MUST BUY & HAVE PRODUCT*** Summary: 5 Stars
I just received my B&D D2030 DAI today. I started to use it right away to see if it was true what I read on Consumer Reports website. All this time I have been ironing and I found the perfect Iron for home use that irons your clothes like just came from the cleaners. I am male and I always like to iron my clothes instead of dry cleaning them because I like to save money. For the longest time since I joined and recently got out of the Army after 7 years of service this iron was a dream come true for me. I could never find the right iron since I was about 17 years of age.
This iron is well worth the money and if you get it on Amazon you get it for $49.99 right now. Anyways just like everyone says on here Rowenta's products haven't been that great lately and I am not willing to spend $120 for the top line iron they have when the ones below are not that great.
I enjoyed ironing my clothes again. I have ironed a pair of jeans in about 7 mins. With tight creases and nicely starched. And the crazy thing is you probably don't need starch. But I like a nice gloss to my jeans.
B&D engineered this iron very well and put a lot of thought into this product that is for sure!! I hope you all take this serious. Because I am being serious this is great iron to have!
And men trust me man you won't hate to iron that much. It makes ironing your own clothes easy and fast!!!

This review is from: Black & Decker D2030 Auto-Off Digital Advantage Iron (Kitchen)
This little iron has given me about a year of good service. Gets hot, hot enough to iron linen items. The spray and burst of steam are powerful enough to do the job desired. The tank is easy to fill. The auto off feature is great but even plugged in, the iron's red "plugged in" light generates a bit of heat. Even the beep to let you know it has reached temperature is a nice feature. One of the main reasons I bought this iron was because of the stainless steel bottom; my preference since I was squeamish about scratching the teflon with a zipper or metal snap.
However, last week when it would beep to let me know it had reached temperature, the beep would not stop and was a continual tone. It stopped when the unit was unplugged. So that happened a few times and then finally, the iron got so hot that the smoke alarm in the next room was set off from the smell of the extremely hot iron.
I am looking for another brand. Funny, my mom had a Sunbeam iron that lasted throughout my whole childhood and into my college years. I may just go back to that. Most of my Black and Decker appliances have since bit the dust and I am finally getting smart to steer clear of this brand. If their stuff would only function for more than a year without problems...
Customer Review: Good value for the money Summary: 4 Stars
This is a very good iron for the money and I like it better than any Rowenta I have had, including the top of their line which costs 2-3 times as much as this Black & Decker.
Since I need to wear a suit and tie daily, I iron everyday, and go thru irons frequently. This one I like so much that I have purchased three of them within the past 9 months so I can rotate them, using each one for a week.
Gave this iron only four stars for two reasons: 1. I have had some problems with a little water leaking from the front of the iron, where the plate meets the iron (and yes, the cap to the water reservoir is closed securely); and 2. The strength of the steam bursts varies from iron to iron.
Despite these drawbacks, I do recommend this iron, especially if you do not iron as frequently as I do. One plus with this iron is that I have this knack for knocking them off the ironing board and smashing to the floor. The irons hold up pretty well and continue to work however this does exacerbate any existing water leakage, or creates a leak. This leakage is usually from the same area, in the front of the iron where the plate meets the plastic. Perhaps there is a slight weakness there? Another plus is that I have not had any problems with water leaking from the bottom of the plate and staining my clothes.
Customer Review: A good value! Summary: 5 Stars
We have had expensive irons before (Rowenta), but this one is as good or better, espcially for the price! This thing serves up constant steam during ironing, and has a good amount of "blast" steam when you want it. Overall, it's comfortable and filling it with water is easy and it heats VERY quickly. When the Rowenta died, we got a B&D D2020 model from a local store for $45. It was hard to turn on and change temperature because the slim selector button on the top had to be pushed into the iron's casing... clearly a design flaw. When I saw this D2030 on Amazon for $5 less, I ordered it. What a difference! The digital display actually says "ready" when the required temperature is reached whereas the D2020 model simply stops flashing when it's ready... is but a small detail, but its nice to have that extra confirmation. Also, the temperature selector button that is so hard to push on the D2020 has been modified on the D2030 so that it's easy to push. Overall, this iron comes highly recommended. One minor fault... If you let the iron go to "sleep" by not using it for a few minutes, you have to push the temperature selector button to turn it back on. This causes the temperature selector to increment by one; you have to push it a few more times to cycle through the temperature selections to get your original setting back.
Customer Review: PRICE GOUGING Summary: 1 Stars
This iron has earned all the positive reviews--for the price that it was when Amazon sold it. Last week I tried to order one for my mom's birthday because she liked mine so much. I was all set to order it, have it gift wrapped and shipped directly to her house. Imagine my surprise when I saw that the price went to $119.00! Now I realize that prices fluctuate, but this feels like a blatant rip-off. I became convinced of it when I checked back a day later and the price was $249.00!!! In addition, it now came from a different third party supplier. Today, it is "down" to $199.00. Big deal. In my experience, third party suppliers are great. Their service is wonderful and pricing more than fair.
In my opinion, this one is a bad apple. I checked around and other sites seemed to have their stock dried up as well. When I bought mine Amazon sold it and I used my prime membership to save on shipping. Seems like someone figured out a dirty little way to swindle us. I wonder how many other low profile products are going the same way. I called customer service. I did not get a satisfactory response, so I e-mailed them just now. I hope they take notice.
I would recommend NOT BUYING FROM THIS SUPPLIER. A $50.00 iron for 250.00, anyone want a bridge in Brooklyn? Cheap?
